Suffering or Growth?
There is a saying here in the US – when life gives you lemons, make lemonade. This proverbial phrase suggests finding something good or positive in something difficult (making sweet lemonade out of sour lemons).
Nice saying, but let’s consider a deeper point.
Sometimes, life happens. You have your preferences and desires, and then – there is life.
When confronted with something you don’t want, didn’t expect, or don’t know how to handle, your choices sometimes appear limited. You might suffer your bad fate or you might grow and prevail.
Growth is a noble concept, but it is not always easy. In fact, it sometimes seems impossible.
That is, unless you remember where your experience of life is coming from and the power flowing through you that creates the experience.
Your experience of any situation, the sweet or the sour, can only come to you through thought in the moment. Unless you think it, you cannot experience it. The thinking flowing through your mind determines your experience from the inside-out. This is the only way the mind can work. No situation, no matter how good or how bad, can make you think a certain way. When you remember this and realize where the power is, new thinking, in the form of an insight, will bring a new experience. Your mind is designed to endlessly serve up insights. This is how you grow. This is how you have always grown.
When you forget this – and we all forget this sometimes – you can feel powerless. You might suffer.
I don’t want to suggest that you can just snap your fingers for a new thought when tragedy befalls. The journey is hardly ever smooth. However, the capacity to grow and develop is innate and you have in you everything you need to be OK.
Your preferences for how life should be are just thoughts. Thoughts waiting to be changed by an insight. Insight = the steady path to growth.
Wishing you graceful and easy growth and development!
